Six years ago, I took the UP Admission Test (UPCAT). Back then, I knew there was no other school for me but UP. And so the hard-headed me decided not to take entrance exams to other universities. But came January and no UPCAT results still. Needless to say, I got jittery and decided to sign the Miriam College Application Form my mom got for me. [Miriam was the only school still accepting exam applications at the time.] To make it short, UPCAT results came out Feb 4, 2002 and my name was on the passers list. :) I did not bother taking the MC entrance test. :)
First semester came, I flunked Math (Not surprising though. hehe). As usual there were hell weeks, when pressworks at the Perspective and exams came together. There were times I even had to chase a professor! Kulang na lang lumuha ako ng dugo huwag lang akong ibagsak! Whew! I'm sooooo glad those days are over. :D
Most of my college days were spent at SU (Perspective office) and the DevCom building. In the former, I found my lifelong partner (hehe :p) and most of my lifelong friends in the latter. DevCom is my home, the only college in LB I'd love to go back to {for a visit lang! hehe} over and over. :)
And so when the UP ADS called me to give a talk to DevCom students about journalism {Journalism and its role to National Development} , I said I'd give it a shot. The day came and I was shaking all over! hehe :) I gave several talks before but I've never been scared as I was when I gave it to DevCom! It was like thesis defense all over again! And almost a hundred pairs of scrutinizing eyes--including those of my old professors! Mam Vega, Mam Matulac, Mam Flor, Mam Mia, among others were there! :)
But when I saw that several students came not just because they were required to, I knew I had to give it my best. I suddenly felt the need to give these students what they must know, the things that you don't see in DevCom hand outs. :)
It was such a fulfilling experience. I'm soooo glad I found a way to pay if forward. :)
