35 months :)

We've gone this far! One more month and we're 3 years as a couple already! Kung may anak na siguro kami, next year mag-aaral na siya! hahaha :)

I knew then that Nix and I would go this far. :) And more! :) hehe :) A million more hours of bliss, thousands of euphoric days, and hundreds of days full of love. :)

So this is like heaven on earth.:) And I am, will always be, certain of my love for him. I have always felt secured in his loving arms and it is only his face I would wish to see every morning for the rest of my life.. :)

 This is it. :)

Call for help

Some of you may think this is absurd but I guess this is the most that I can do...for now. I just finished watching Maalala mo kaya in chanel 2, where they featured the life of 2nd lt. Ariel Toledo, Philippine Military Academy's Class 2006 Valedictorian, who was stricken with a rare case of liver cancer. Only one out of a thousand people could get the cancer. Why him? Hay. His story is really touching, and if, only if, i had the money to pay for his medical needs then I would have been on my toes..en route to the bank to withdraw money. Unfortunately, I have none.

His father, according to the story, was a policeman who was shot dead right in front of him when he was yet too young to understand. His brother was also killed during the incident.

The death of his father, however, did not deter him from entering the academy later on. In fact, his father's death even gave him the strength to pursue his PMA dream, although he failed the entrance exam twice. Plus the fact that even if his whole family had second thoughts of letting him join the academy.

Toledo's girlfriend, Margaret, was also such an angel. She helped him all the way, And although they have yet to get married because of Toledo's medical condition, she has sacrificed a lot, probably way a lot than what a wife would do for her husband. Talk about true love. :c

Hay. If only talaga. Fortunately, MMK opened a help hotline for Toledo..and I suddenly found myself resending text donations. I hope several text messages made a difference.

But come to think of it, if a million people would devote at least one text (amounting to 2.50 php) then it would make a difference. :) I hope you get the picture. :)

Text MMK GIVE then send to 231 for Smart, Talk and text subscribers. I failed to get the globe hotline. :)

The reason why :)

My reason for being lovefull: Having been with Nix for almost three years (and counting), I can say with utmost certainty I have found my perfect match. :) Much as I want to enumerate the things I like and love about him, I know I would never be able to complete the list.

You see, I just find myself falling in love over and over, particularly on days that we discover something new about each other. I find it amazing that our old pictures look like they were taken almost ages ago, and yet the feeling was just the same. It is amazing to see him growing older, and our love, getting better.

Of course, not everything is all about rainbows and butterflies and roses and chocolates and cupids all those good things. We had bad times too. But we fortunately passed the tests--even with flying colors.

I am inspired. And this is because of him. Nix is my bestfriend, my bodyguard, my shock-absorber, my rainbow after a storm, my shelter, my love, my home.

A moment with Oliver North :)

Ok, maybe you are asking who is Oliver North, or who the hell is he anyway? :) hehe. Maybe he is not as popular as he used to be but damn.. (borrowing my colleague Alcuin Papa's words) he was once the most hated man in America! haha :) And yes, I've met him! :) That is really a once in a lifetime experience. :)

Oliver North, a former White House aide who was the center of the Iran-Contra scandal in the 1980s, has arrived in the Philippines to make a documentary about terrorism. North is now a commentator and correspondent for Fox news. :) I had the chance to meet him yesterday, when he arrived here at Camp Crame. :)

He is also a reporter so he knows how to evade questions, He was quite good at it..to evade questions and still look nice ;)

My story about him was succinct...but boy, I was really thrilled that I even asked for a photo-op. :) hehe :)

Tired but not yet sleepy

Getting bored online, I decided to just answer a love quiz. hehe (er, forgive me for being soooo cheeeeezy! hehe) I'm glad with the result! :)

Here it is: Long-term Lovebirds - You're the type of couple that makes everyone sick. With your lovebird looks and thumbs-hooked-in-each-other's-pockets strolls, you have obtained what is the Holy Grail of the Ally McBeal set: true love.

"You've both reached the level where you accept each other as is," say Beatty and Elliot Cohan, authors of For Better, For Worse, Forever: 10 Steps For Building A Lasting Relationship With The Man You Love, but that doesn't mean you're both blinded by bliss. Quite the contrary: you've learned to love the good, the bad and the ugly side of your partner, settling the stage for a love built on something more solid than the stuff of grocery store paperbacks. But don't go warp-speed on the wedding plans just yet. "We always advise couples to wait at least six months to a year before making any big decisions," say the Cohans. That way you can be sure that you have more in common than just compatible body parts.

my comment: Well, we're going on three years soon! :) wedding bells? nah :) hehehe :)

Learning, living and loving

2006 was a very momumental year for me. It was very fast I never had the time to examine how it was going.

Last year started with chasing thesis and publication deadlines, amid fears I wouldn't be graduating on time. But four months later, I was singing the UP hymn "UP Naming Mahal" and close to tears, armed with pure optimism and excitement of what my future would be. Around May, I was already chasing deposed President Joseph Estrada for an interview. A month after, I was given a beat, which was an unlikely opportunity given to a cub reporter.

Since then, I wrote big news stories, chased popular figures, knocked off cameras getting in my way, and argued with unruly bodyguards and security aides. I had my own money, a post-paid phone account, a high-end communication gadget, a camera phone, and a thousand contacts in my phonebook.

At one point I was so amazed at what was happening..I was meeting people, going places, and probably even initiating change through my stories. Clearly, everything was a dream come true. I was practically having the time of my life. Everything was perfect. Or so I thought.

Maybe I got so overwhelmed and..I might have pushed some people away. I made mistakes, hurt some people who were with me from Day 1. And that's why I'm terribly sorry.

Probably one of my biggest regrets was I lived my life too fast. I made rash decisions, thinking I had no luxury of time. I made wrong decisions, really. However, wishing I could take back all the things I have said and done would be tantamount to wasting much more time. Crying for spilt milk is futile.

I don't want to think I messed it all up. I don't want to blame destiny, either. Everything I did was basically an offshoot of a choice, a move only I could be held responsible. Nobody ever chose for me.

It was I who didn't stop to smell the flowers, so to speak. It was I who rode a cab almost everyday just to avoid big buses on the high-way. All I ever thought was arriving at my destination, without thinking how wonderful a journey could be.

I forgot sending out birthday greetings to my friends. I often forgot to text my loved ones and ask them how their day was.

But philosopher Ludwig Wittgenstein was right when he said that life is essentially composed of stumbling and falling; what is important is we pick ourselves up after each fall.

And what are second chances for? So, welcome 2007. I'm a better, stronger woman now.

The following tips can help one look his or her best for any kind of professional photo.

  1. At picture-taking time, take a few seconds to compose yourself not just by fixing your hair and clothes (as well as your makeup), but more importantly, by fixing your facial expression. Start by relaxing the muscles in your face—your forehead, your eyes, your cheeks, your lips, your nose, your neck, and your shoulders.

  2. When you smile for the camera, smile not just with your lips but with your eyes. Tap on your source of joy from within (by thinking happy thoughts, remembering loved ones, or recalling happy moments) and let your eyes sparkle with brightness from this wellspring of emotion. The rest of your face and posture will follow.

  3. Quickly and automatically apply the easy secret of the most photogenic men, women, and children—put your chin down. What is being photographed is your face, not your neck. You become more photogenic by a factor of 20 percent when you slightly draw your chin downwards.

  4. To make a "double chin" magically disappear, simply extend your neck a bit forward to the direction of the camera. As an extra insurance, it may be helpful to make sure that the camera position is about as high as your eye level.

  5. To show poise, do not "confront" the camera directly. Squarely stand 2/3 to the side of the camera and then slowly and naturally twist the top of the body towards the photographer.

  6. In whatever pose you strike, deal with problematic hands and arms by making them fall naturally and comfortably to your side. You can also clasp your hands, cross your arms, or occupy them by holding on to small objects. Just make sure that your fingers are not spread out or clenched.

  7. Wear appropriate and subtle clothing and accessories. You don’t need to "dress up". Ideally, the outfit you should wear must best describe your unique personality, profession, or the circumstance of particular occasions.

Mike Defensor and Ralph Recto

What do Former Presidential chief of staff Mike Defensor and Ralph Recto have in common? Not the looks, definitely. :) But both are senatorial candidates of the administration's TEAM Unity--and what the tally from the Commission on Elections is obviously showing, both of them are already losers. And both, rightfully, has accepted defeat.

Defensor finally realized the unfortunate fact that his (?) money spent for the stupid Boy Abunda-idea political advertisement is already down the drain. And Recto, who authored the Expanded Value Added Tax (E-vat), is finally reaping the punishment for his unpleasant law.

Defensor and Recto are nice guys, even smart enough to get a senate seat. Too bad they chose the wrong party.

I would have voted for them, if only I was able to last elections. :) I regret that I had to stay in Manila for the election coverage, and for all I know, someone else is voting under my name in Bicol. (I hope not.)

I laud Defensor and Recto for finally saying goodbye to their Senate dream. Now I want to see Prospero Pichay and Chavit Singson do the same thing. But even if they do, they still do not deserve any commendation.

It's also a good thing Tessie Aquino-Oreta did not make it, although it saddens me that Sonia Roco is already too far behind. I am glad Joker Arroyo, Manuel Villar, Kiko Pangilinan, Noynoy Aquino, Ping Lacson and Chiz Escudero got a seat but It is frustrating that Loren Legarda went on top of the Senate race.

I was lucky enough to meet almost all of the senatorial candidates because of our INQUIRER.net "eleksyon podcast." It is a rare chance to have them sit a meter away from you as they tell you all their rants against the government (or the opposition) or their babbles about what they have achieved so far.

I like Legarda the least. I'd rather talk to Jamalul Kiram. I hate it how Legarda delivers her well-practiced speech. She is Orocan/tupperware personified. Super plastic! Grr.

Oh well.

Post Script: I've never identified Piolo Pascual as a hunk until my mom bugged me to watch his latest movie (with Regine) last week. Grabe, he's gwapo pala :) hehe :)

Pero syempre mas gwapo Nixlove ko :) hehe :)
