We were never close, although we exchanged pleasantries during rallies and other activities led by activists--as our respective jobs called for.
Anakpawis (Toiling Masses) Representative Crispin Beltran, who was known as one of the Batasan five, passed away the other day after he fell from the rooftop of his home in Bulacan. He was 75.
Known for his leftist ideals, Beltran was always present at rallies--maybe except when he was under hospital arrest last year.
Some people, even his family, said his death was useless, undramatic, and very unlikely for a man who fought labor injustice. But I guess his (hopefully) painless death was heaven's way of paying him for all the good things he has done while he was still alive.
True, you don't know what you got until it's gone. Take care everyone!
Thea, exactly my thoughts as I pondered his death.. such a shock to have died the way he did.. My due respect to the man.. I may never have agreed with him on all of his views and decisions, but admirable he was nonetheless..
ReplyDeletetrue. at least he wasn't shot, at least it wasn't brutal :(
