I just finished watching The Kite Runner (thanks Che for the cd! hehe) and I'm really really disappointed. And I don't think this was the first time I got disappointed with a movie based on a novel.
Kite Runner was a really really good book, the kind you'd want to read over and over, although it hurts. I was so moved that I can't even forget the characters.
But I hate how it was in the movie. Maybe for those who have not read the book and have seen the film, the movie could be considered good. Still, it isn't the same.
The book was so full of imagery and powerful words but the movie did not give enough justice to Khaled Hosseini's writing magic. The movie would have been better if they gave enough visuals (yes, ironic. A movie and still not enough visuals). I'm sooooo disappointed.
That's why I'd rather read than watch a movie. In reading, you expand your vocabulary and the fulfillment is immeasurable after you've finished your last page. Watching a movie, well, isn't that fulfilling, You know what I mean.
Aww I was looking forward to watching it pa naman.
ReplyDeleteWala akong maisip na mas maganda yung movie adaptation kaysa book mismo...
watch it pa rin. just don't expect it to be as explosive as the book :( kainis nga e, laging pangit mga adaptation :(
ReplyDeletethis is so nineties, but i thought the merchant-ivory-jhabvala movie adaptations were always up to par with the em forster novels, and sharper than iziguro's "the remains of the day". but, of course, nobody here will understand what i'm saying, because you were still babies in the last decade, hahaha. :D
