probably a form of protest, a tarnished side of the school's mythicized celebration of the centennial. come to think of it, ang daming forms of repression ang nangyari just before 2008---ToFI, Kule, Manininda, ID system, political killings, the UP Charter. However, Arnel's case would have been a different cause pero pangkuyog po ito sa lahat.
thanks for sharing this ms. thea.
nevertheless... Maligayang sentenaryo po!
hahahaha! :)) University war itooooo! :))
ReplyDeleteoh, thanks for your comment. :) Although I would have to agree with the irony of celebrating 100 years when political killings are everywhere and campus press freedom is being repressed, I think it's about time we accept change. Time to revise the old charter; time to increase the tuition fee (although dapat sana hindi nga ganun kataas); time to impose ID system (trust me, no need to fear this if you're not part of the left) to improve security. I dont know about the Manininda hehe :) Yes, Arnel's case could be entirely different. :) Happy Centennial! :)
